What is Audacity?

Audacity is a free digital audio editor and recording application. As well as recording audio from multiple sources, Audacity can also be used for post-processing of all types of audio, including podcasts by adding effects such as normalization, trimming, and fading in and out.

Audacity can record live audio through a microphone or mixer, or digitize recordings from cassette tapes, records, or minidiscs. With some sound cards, Audacity can also capture streaming audio.

Overview

A scheduled task is added to Windows Task Scheduler in order to launch the program at various scheduled times (the schedule varies depending on the version). The software is designed to connect to the Internet and adds a Windows Firewall exception in order to do so without being interfered with. The primary executable is named audacity.exe. How do I remove Audacity?

You can uninstall Audacity from your computer by using the Add/Remove Program feature in the Window's Control Panel.
