What is Yontoo?

Yontoo is a web browser toolbar and extension. Yontoo collects and stores information about your web browsing habits so they can suggest services or provide advertising. It is a potentially unwanted application that installs a browser extension to display advertisements that appear to be from Facebook. The program will then install PageRage, a browser extension that modifies the skin layout of Facebook but also displays advertisements which appear to be from Facebook.

"The Software is free to use and supported by various types of advertising, including but not limited to search, banner, inline text and transitional ads. Ads and features that appear on websites by using the Software are not associated with or endorsed by underlying websites. Some features and ad placements contain links to further information and disabling instructions (e.g. "About this Ad"). Software features, content and advertising may be modified, added, enabled, disabled or discontinued at any time automatically and without additional notice to the user"

Yontoo is adware that is installed along with other applications such as toolbars. While it is not malware, Yontoo injects advertisements and pop-ups over otherwise normal websites during browsing and is designed to direct users to paysites that generate revenue from the traffic they receive.
