VibeFire
What is VibeFire?
"Screensaver.com is distributing modified installers which differ from the originals. The modified installers are compliant with the original software manufacturer's policies and Terms of Service. InstallIQ™ is an install manager that will manage the installation of your selected software. In addition to managing the installation of your selected software, InstallIQ™ will make recommendations for additional free software that you may be interested in. Additional software may include toolbars, browser add-ons, game applications, anti-virus applications, and other types of applications. You are not required to install any additional software to receive your selected software. You can completely remove the program at any time in Windows' Add/Remove Programs."
Overview
Upon being installed, the software adds a Windows Service which is designed to run continuously in the background. Manually stopping the service has been seen to cause the program to stop functing properly. It adds a background controller service that is set to automatically run. Delaying the start of this service is possible through the service manager. A scheduled task is added to Windows Task Scheduler in order to launch the program at various scheduled times (the schedule varies depending on the version). The software is designed to connect to the Internet and adds a Windows Firewall exception in order to do so without being interfered with. The primary executable is named vibefire.exe. The setup package generally installs about 5 files and is usually about 2.08 MB (2,176,466 bytes).
VibeFire has been seen bundling various 3rd party software during the installation process. Make sure to check for and remove unused programs.
