Western Digital, also known as WD, distributes the software utilities for use with its hard drives including Data Lifeguard Tools and Data Lifeguard Diagnostics. Western Digital also creates WD Smartware with many of its drives for use as backup drives. This software backs up all Documents, Pictures, Movies, Emails, and more on the drive, and continually checks for changes to drive locations. many OEMs that include WD drives in their PCs pre-install a number of WD based software utilities on the PC.
