What is SavePathDeals?
Savepath Deals is an advertising supported (adware) extension that runs in the context of the user's web browser as well as a process in the background. Once running, the software is designed to deliver advertisements to the browser in a number of common formats such as banner ads. From the Terms of Use: "When you visit certain participating merchant website(s), such as by typing in the URL or by clicking on a link (including those on a search engine results page), the Savepath Deals Application may redirect you through an affiliate network site to the merchant website, and a tracking cookie may be placed in your browser. This cookie is used to track any transaction or purchase through the merchant website. Links from supported merchant sites are also converted to affiliate links using a third-party service."
Additionally the browser plugin will hijack the user's web browser home page and search settings. "During the install process, you will be given an option to allow Savepath Deals to become your default search engine and/or your default home page. If you consent to make Savepath Deals your home page, Savepath Deals will become your default home page that will appear each time you open your Internet browser. If you consent to make Savepath Deals your default search engine, your Internet browser default search engine will be set to Savepath Deals. You will be using Savepath Deals web search services when you enter queries in your browser search box, when you enter queries in your browser address bar, and when you enter misspelled, incorrectly formatted, or unresolved DNS submissions in your browser address bar."
