QUAD RegistryCleaner is distributed as a 'PC optimization' software program that works by cleaning the PC's registry whose purpose is to remove redundant items from the Windows registry. The usefulness of registry cleaners is controversial and the software may make no distinction as to the severity of the errors detected and thus may erroneously categorize errors as critical.

It adds registry entry for the current user which will allow the program to automatically start each time it is rebooted. A scheduled task is added to Windows Task Scheduler in order to launch the program at various scheduled times (the schedule varies depending on the version).
