What is PCSpeedUpMD?
PCSpeedUpMD is marketed as a 'PC optimization' software program that works by cleaning the PC's registry whose purpose is to remove redundant items from the Windows registry. The usefulness of registry cleaners is controversial and the software may make no distinction as to the severity of the errors detected and thus may erroneously categorize errors as critical.
Overview
A scheduled task is added to Windows Task Scheduler in order to launch the program at various scheduled times (the schedule varies depending on the version). The primary executable is named PCSpeedUpMD.exe. Many users end up uninstalling this after less than a month of it being installed. The setup package generally installs about 14 files and is usually about 10.76 MB (11,284,013 bytes). The installed file updater.exe is the auto-update component of the program which is designed to check for software updates and notify and apply them when new versions are discovered.
- The wisdom of the experts agree, if you don't use it you should remove it!
