OpenOffice and Options

What is OpenOffice and Options?

Important, this is not associated with the open-source OpenOffice software. This program is a software bundler that is marketed as being able to install additional components for the widely used and popular OpenOffice program but in actuality just wraps the freely available program with bundled software which includes adware and other potentially unwanted utilities (such as PC optimizers, toolbars, etc.). The main bundling program is simply an uninstaller that is designed to help the end user remove the bundled software on their PC after infection. The reason this even exists is due to various 3rd party partner marketing rules. When uninstalling, a list of bundled software is included and provides the user the ability to individually remove each installed program from their PC using that programs built in Windows installer/uninstaller.

Overview

The primary executable is named Uninstaller.exe. A majority of users end up uninstalling this less than a week of it being installed. The setup package is about 1.75 MB (1,832,448 bytes) when donwloaded.
  • Delivers various 'optional' bundled software during install
  • The experts agree, you should remove it!
OpenOffice and Options has been seen bundling various 3rd party software during the installation process. Make sure to check for and remove unused programs.
