LyricsParty
from BRNE Software
What is LyricsParty?
LyricsParty is displayed to users through a co-bundle offer as a way to display lyrics when watching YouTube videos. However, the true purpose is to display search/ads through web browser hijacking. This is a web browser extension and Browser helper Object (for Internet Explorer) that delivers contextual based advertising to the web browser. In addition it will modify the user's browser home and search pages as well as 'New Tab' pages to push advertising and search.
About (from BRNE Software)
•The Software enables you to find lyrics to songs on YouTube and display them alongside the music video. This use is subject to your right or authorization to watch and play YouTube’s videos, under YouTube’s terms and conditions.
Overview
During setup, the program registers itself to launch on boot through a Windows Schedule Task in order to automatically start-up (this is typically done to avoid any UAC prompts). It adds a Browser Helper Object (BHO) to Internet Explorer. A scheduled task is added to Windows Task Scheduler in order to launch the program at various scheduled times (the schedule varies depending on the version). The primary executable is named LprtyUP.exe. A majority of users end up uninstalling this less than a week of it being installed. The setup package generally installs about 13 files and is usually about 1021.75 KB (1,046,269 bytes).
- Malware detected in the program
- Automatically starts with Windows
- Integrates into the web browser
- Typically distributed through a pay-per-install bundle
- The experts agree, you should remove it!
Warning, multiple anti-virus scanners have detected possible malware in LyricsParty.
