Halloween Screen Saver
What is Halloween Screen Saver?
This Freeze screensaver is installed with the software bundler called InstallIQ, an install manager that will make recommendations for additional advertising supported or other 3rd party software that may include toolbars, browser add-ons, and other types of potentially unwanted programs. Although you are not required to install any additional software, you need to manually uncheck the bundled offers. Uninstalling the screensaver will not automatically removed the bundled software.
Overview
Upon being installed, the software adds a Windows Service which is designed to run continuously in the background. Manually stopping the service has been seen to cause the program to stop functing properly. It adds a background controller service that is set to automatically run. Delaying the start of this service is possible through the service manager. A scheduled task is added to Windows Task Scheduler in order to launch the program at various scheduled times (the schedule varies depending on the version). The software is designed to connect to the Internet and adds a Windows Firewall exception in order to do so without being interfered with. The setup package generally installs about 4 files and is usually about 5.6 MB (5,871,454 bytes).
