What is HP Product Assistant? (from Hewlett-Packard)
HP Product Assistant detects problems that can occur with HP products, and then offers solutions to resolve those problems. For example, HP Product Assistant can detect a paper jam and present on-screen solutions to resolve the paper jam.
Overview
HP Product Assistant is a software program developed by Hewlett-Packard. The primary executable is named hprbui.exe. The setup package generally installs about 3 files. The installed file hprbUpdate.exe is the auto-update component of the program which is designed to check for software updates and notify and apply them when new versions are discovered. Relative to the overall usage of those who have this installed, most are running it on Windows XP.
This program is pre-installed on the PC
Pre-installed software such as this is usually included by default on the manufacturer's PC. Many OEM (original equipment manufacture) software that is included with a new PC is useful and in many cases required for the PC to function properly as in the case of various software drivers. How do I remove HP Product Assistant?
You can uninstall HP Product Assistant from your computer by using the Add/Remove Program feature in the Window's Control Panel.
- On the Start menu (for Windows 8, right-click the screen's bottom-left corner), click Control Panel, and then, under Programs, do one of the following:
- Windows Vista/7/8/10: Click Uninstall a Program.
- Windows XP: Click Add or Remove Programs.
- When you find the program HP Product Assistant, click it, and then do one of the following:
- Windows Vista/7/8/10: Click Uninstall.
- Windows XP: Click the Remove or Change/Remove tab (to the right of the program).
- Follow the prompts. A progress bar shows you how long it will take to remove HP Product Assistant.
