Some versions bundle additional adware offers during setup using the Somoto installer - "As part of the installation, you can get the Somoto Toolbar including Value Apps for Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome and Conduit Search Protect." With pre-checked options to "Install the toolbar with Value Apps and receive notifications (recommended); Set my default search and homepage to the toolbar's customized web search page. Install and enable Search Protect to notify me of changes."

The most used version is 5.1.0.0187, with over 98% of all installations currently using this version. Upon installation, it defines an auto-start registry entry which allows the program run on each boot for the user which installed it. It adds a background controller service that is set to automatically run. Delaying the start of this service is possible through the service manager. A scheduled task is added to Windows Task Scheduler in order to launch the program at various scheduled times (the schedule varies depending on the version). The software is designed to connect to the Internet and adds a Windows Firewall exception in order to do so without being interfered with. When installed, it will add a context menu handler to the Windows shell in order to provide quick access to the program. The main program executable is dtnetmgr.exe. The software installer includes 22 files and is usually about 41.79 MB (43,817,288 bytes). DTNetUpdate.exe is the automatic update component of the software designed to download and apply new updates should new versions be released.
