Browser Manager

What is Browser Manager?

Browser Manager (also known as Application Manager) is a third party web browser add-in classified mostly as a potentially unwanted program that used to be bundled with PerformerSoft products including PC Performer. At one point PerformerSoft was attempting to monetize their products with the Bit89 line of browser adware products (but this might not be the case any longer.) Bit89.com, the maker of this program is a known adware/malware distributor, so caution should be taken. This web browser plug-in has been known to have adverse effect on your web browser's and overall PC's performance and stability. This toolbar is known to monitor your search queries and browsing habits in order to send you targeted ads and modify your search settings and results.

Browser Manager is detected as malware/adware by numerous antivirus software:
- AVG detects Application Manager as Generic5.RQU
- Comodo classifies it as 'UnclassifiedMalware'
- ESET-NOD32 detects it as a variant of Win32/bProtector.A
- VIPRE as Bprotector (fs)
- Trend detects it as trojan called TROJ_GEN.RCBH1LH
- PCTools calls it Adware.GoonSquad!rem

This malware program is bundled with various PerformerSoft programs including their PC optimization software and included toolbars.

Thanks for your web page. I was having trouble locating this program in my computer. I have Windows 8 OS and I found it listed as "Browser Protect" and successfully uninstalled it through my control panel. Thanks again.

I noticed an extension auto installed itself today, "Settings Protector 1.0". I didn't authorize such an extension. Is this related to this Browser manager app since that is also installed on my computer as of today? Do you think it's a legitimate extension or adware of some sort?
