What is BrowseStudio?

BrowseStudio is an adware program (supported by various types of advertising) that is usually bundled by third party installers and download managers. Once installed, this ad-supported web browser extension will run within the context of the user's browser (supports Internet Explorer, Chrome and Firefox) and is primarily designed to inject advertisements in a number of formats within the web pages the user is visiting. Ad insertion takes place in the form of both full banner adverts as well as text-hyperlinks that are injected over existing HTML content. As for the banners, these are either inserted within existing white space in the rendered HTML or by overwriting the pages ads. In either case, these ads are not associated by the underlying website and are simply injected by the adware through an extension, BHO or plugin depending on the browser.

Summary of this adware's functions:
- Installs a web browser extension
- Injects ads within the underlying webpage
- Ads appear as banners or inline text advertisements
- Ads are targeted to queries the user makes

The most common release is 2014.11.21.222122, with over 44% of all installations currently using this version. Upon being installed, the software adds a Windows Service which is designed to run continuously in the background. Manually stopping the service has been seen to cause the program to stop functing properly. It adds a background controller service that is set to automatically run. Delaying the start of this service is possible through the service manager. It adds a Browser Helper Object (BHO) to Internet Explorer. The primary executable is named BrowseStudioBHO.dll. A majority of users end up uninstalling this less than a week of it being installed. The setup package generally installs about 17 files and is usually about 3.03 MB (3,174,106 bytes).
