What is Brother MFL-Pro Suite MFC-660CN?
This is the software that allows a Windows PC to recognize and print to the Brother multi-function device. The MFC Software Suite includes various software including the core printer and scanner drivers, the Control Center as well as an OCR application for converting an image into text and it is integrated into PaperPort. It also includes a document management application for viewing scanned documents and various True Type fonts.
Overview
Upon installation and setup, it defines an auto-start registry entry which makes this program run on each Windows boot for all user logins. A scheduled task is added to Windows Task Scheduler in order to launch the program at various scheduled times (the schedule varies depending on the version). The software is designed to connect to the Internet and adds a Windows Firewall exception in order to do so without being interfered with. The software installer includes 32 files and is usually about 12.89 MB (13,521,012 bytes).
